What is GLOBAL about me?
We live in a world that is culturally diverse. Somehow, a person could be global, may it be the influence of friends, the society, the place he/she grew up in, or even the media he/she interacts with.
So what is global about me?
First fo all, I consider myself to be global as I was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates. This has led me to be accustomed to respect their rules and beliefs. In someway, it has also influenced the way I feel and think about certain topics. Although, I am a pure Filipino....a part of me is not fully what it's supposed to be.
Second, I am global because I study in a school with different nationalities of different cultures. I have learnt to interact with various people irrespective of where they are from or what they believe in.
Third, I am global because the media I am exposed to and I interact with (especially the internet) include a wide variety of content and information about cultures. By doing so, I am able to learn differences between several them.
There are many ways a person could descride how he/she could be GLOBAL. To be brief, these are mine.
Ask yourself this question...and maybe you could also come up with several ways on why you think so. ;)

Studying Hofstede's Dimensions of Culture
This commercial, which was showed in the Philippines, is an example of how we could study Hofstede's Dimensions of Culture. It presents three:
1. High Power Distance
Respect for old age: It is showed by the gesture and the use of “po” and “opo.”
There is a differentiation between how Filipinos talk towards their elders and just normal friends of the
same age group.
2. Collectivism
Strong and close family ties. Spendins time and getting together with the family during special
occassion is very important.
3. Femininity
- Filipinos are known for their hospitality and modesty.
- They are nurturing and caring towards others.
